{{Quote|Excursions, before it was what it is now, was a 30 minute release that I created to, mostly make people know that I still exist. However, I didn’t stop creating until ultimately it became a release that is over 100 minutes in length.

I’ve created this release exclusively only with a 2014 MacBook Pro, which turned out to be a difficult process. Most of the songs use more than 50 individual channels. That’s part due to my creative workflow and part due to me working as fast and as messy as possible. Until recently MacBooks only came with 16 gigs of RAM, which is perfectly fine for most all people, except video editors and people like me. For example, the song Thunderbird, clocking in at 13 minutes, needs around 18 gigs of free RAM to open without a hitch. Shockingly, MacBooks can still open a song like that with 16, because of their weird compression technique. However… it’s also a lucky coin flip on whether the software crashes or not.

Technical problems aside, I’ve posed a few challenges to myself to make creating Excursions interesting.

1. I wanted to create the same piece over and over again in as many different places and mood sets as possible 
2. I wanted to use recorded speakers as a means to record room acoustics as much as possible 
3. Excursions is supposed to feel like a journey through the messiest parts of New York, yet still feel tranquil and relaxing 

To achieve number 3, I’ve decided to bake in the sounds of nature with additional grimy spooky places. Surprisingly, it makes the whole record feel very calm even with the most intense songs.|C418|[https://c418.org/albums/excursions/ C418.org]}}

|text=“Dief” is a short album created in under two weeks for [http://teddydief.com/ Teddy Dief]‘s GDC Talk “Still Grooving: Game Dev Life Set to Live Music”.

The artwork by the way is made by game designer artist musician multitalent [http://rvaise.com/ Ben Swinden].

As the title implies, I’ve created backing music as Teddy read a sort of poem about his life. The talk itself worked better than we anticipated! We had very little time working on it, mostly because Teddy is a busy boy directing a new game at Square Enix, which, who knows how much time that swallows.

Everything of “Dief” runs at a smooth 90BPM, mostly because I had to make sure the BPM was the same all across the board so I could quickly switch over to any song that I desire. However, the album version of course doesn’t do any crazy transitioning, it’s more of a normal traditional breakbeat style album. I’m hoping it works really well with just playing it in the background and chilling to it.

I’m pretty happy with what I’ve managed to accomplish in less than two weeks. It’s of course SUPER simple and you can’t really compare it to the works I’ve spent years on. Still, it chill, ok.

The original concept was for him to release a short song every Wednesday, but this later expanded to include albums and songs [[Mixes|as long as 25 minutes]]. 52 "BAMs" were released between 2007 and 2009.

|text=148 is a highly energetic and loud mouthed release full of house and drum&bass tunes. There's a house ballad, there's collaboration with cool artists and there's also some surprises, like Minecraft remixes I haven't shown anywhere else but at live shows.

I've been working on this thing for over five years. At least a few songs I've worked on from the beginning until the last day, even. I wish I would have saved every single version of all of these songs so I could see how they changed, but before 2012 I really didn't understand what backing up really meant, haha. This album is also a super interesting evolution of my own sound. When I started making it, I was all into all-analog. When I finished making it, I wasn't really concerned about using digital means to reach the same goal anymore. When I started making this, I was a scared composer, fresh off of Minecraft fame. Unsure what the future would bring me. And when I finished making it, I became a jaded composer, hypercritical of every single piece I ever created, worried that my old work shows that I'm not good enough.

That really doesn't matter anymore though, because I think I'm happy with this album.

It just has been plaguing me for too long. I think that you can't be happy with anything if you've stared at it too close for too long. Which is why I decided to stealth release it without any announcement. I've had incredibly unproductive years recently, and a lot of it had to do with being burnt out and partly being somewhat depressed. This album didn't really help my psyche either. By releasing this, right now, I hope I can get to a clean slate and start beginning work on new stuff. And, of course, maybe it stops making everyone worried that I stopped composing altogether.

So, this is it! 148 has been started on a gigantic computer system somewhere in East Germany in 2011 and finished on a tiny laptop in Toronto, 2015.

I really hope you like it! And if you don't, I'm not dead yet. I'll have more music. So much more.

The soundtrack itself is way more than that though. Through editing it became an album on its own, something that is way more unique than what I could have accomplished by just making a dedicated album.
The tone is pretty relaxed, with a mix of live recorded chiptune, orchestral phrases and a lot of Array Mbiras. A LOT of them.
I also intentionally put in a lot of repetition into the album. You will hear a lot of songs that sound similar to songs you’ve heard before. Like Leitmotivs, but actually for entire songs.

There’s a word in German, called “Schönhören”, and it roughly translates to the act of listening to something until you start to like it. So, a lot of this album is an experiment on if that can actually be true. That may sound like a lot of bogus, but I was actually genuinely curious if songs sound better if you’ve heard preview versions of them before you listen to the main track. Did it work? I think it did for me. But did it work for you? I don’t know, you tell me!
